Clifton Ray (CR) Cheek (1937 - 2019) is considered a pre-eminent western artist. With much of his work capturing western Native American culture, life, and people. Born in Kentucky - he moved to Montana in the early sixties. While working a variety of ranch jobs he developed his love for art. Self-taught - he became proficient in drawing, oil and watercolor painting, and sculpture. Capturing the history of Montana cowboys and native people from his studio on the Fort Peck reservation. His work being prized, collected, and recognized world wide.
"Final Resting Place" is an oil on board work picturing a Native American burial atop a hill above the panoramic Montana landscape. Undated - our research indicates this work was created sometime in the 1990's. Signed lower left hand corner "C R Cheek". Framed.
