For centuries nomadic tribes roamed Persia in search of the best grazing for their livestock. Over the years each developed proprietary patterns unique to their tribes alone.
This tribal rug was created sometime in the mid to late 20th century. It features a large medalion in a range or red, black, ivory, and gold hues against a grayish green center ground. Bordered by three intricate red and ivory bands with highly detailed flower and foliate patterns. Twelve hand-tied knots run in a line per inch for a total of 144 knots per square inch
Measures 55" wide x 86" Long (4'6" x 7'1").
Overall condition is excellent vintage with minor surface dirt and no visible areas of wear. Note: this rug was in a home with pets prior and has not been cleaned. See photos for details.
