Founded in 1836, Strombergshyttan Sweden became known for cutting edge crystal designs starting in the 1930's. Gunnar Nyland was the firm's artistic director from 1954-1967. Utilizing innovative production techniques and design prowess to create timeless works of art. So much so that several of his Strombershyttan designs are in museum collections including the MET New York, Victoria & Albert London, and Swedish National Museum of Art & Design Stockholm. Ultimately the firm was sold to Orrefors in 1976.
This unique "geode" design by Gunnar Nyland is the perfect decorative accessory for any room. Extremely heavy - it is made of lead crystal in a pale, watery blue hue. Original sticker reading "Strombergshyttan Sweden" is affixed on one side. Etched signature on bottom reads "Strombergshyttan N 102".
Measures 6" long x 4.5" deep x 2" high.
