Pair of spectacular ceramic gilt and gessoed pine cone shaped lamps. The "Pigna" has long been an Italian symbol of prosperity, welcome, and good luck. Also embodying meaning related to life force, immortality, and fertility. Quite popular in Sicily and southern Italy, it is the key element of the Fontana della Pigna now sitting in a Vatican City wall niche facing the Cortile della Pigna.
These lamps stand (without harps or shades) at 25" high (socket top to base) x 10" in diameter. Both are in very good vintage condition with minor wear and tear (see photos for details). Vintage wiring has been tested, and is in working condition. HARPS AND SHADES NOT INCLUDED.
