The beautifully carved and gilt dolphins on each arm of this elegant early 19th century bench make it unique. Typical of the 1820's - 40's this antique could be described as empire, regency, "restoration", or Biedermeier. The honey toned wood frame is a mix of solid and veneered areas typical of this period. Ready for re-upholstery - the seat and back front have a layer of unbleached underlayment fabric which has been affixed with a mix of staples and tacks. Back rear is covered with what appears to be the original Hessian fabric. Extremely sturdy - this frame is structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or issues of note. Two very old steel strips reinforce the front center.. Minor wood frame scuffs, scratches dings, and marks commensurate with antique age/use. There appears to have been some prior repair/restoration to some of the veneer however current veneer state shows now issues of note.  See photos for details.
