For centuries nomadic tribes roamed Persia in search of the best grazing for their livestock. Over the years each developed proprietary patterns inspired by the terrain they traveled to/from and unique to their tribes alone. 
 
This Asfar rug was created sometime in the early 20th century. It features a three medalions in it's center deep blue ground. Bordered by flower and foliate patterns. Rare blue ground with patterns in  red, pink, white, black, and gold hues. Sixteen hand-tied knots run in a line per inch for a total of 256 knots per square inch
 
Measures 51" (4' 2") wide  x 73" Long (6' 8").
 
Overall condition is very good antique with wear on two corners, some border loss on one side, wear on the center medallion, and fringe loss. SEE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS. Note: this rug was in a home with pets prior and has not been cleaned.
