At almost six feet in height - this pair of ancient asian Foo Dogs/Dragons are a tour de force! Research shows these were originally architectural elements for some ancient Asian temple. Rare, antique, and very large pair of hand carved in wood Foo Lions/Dogs mounted on custom fabricated black lacquered solid wood stands. Imagine them sitting on either side of a fireplace. Or as dramatic statements in an entrance hall doorway. Condition is commensurate with advanced age and prior exposure to the elements. Dogs themselves are missing some carved elements plus cracks, worm holes, etc. The bases are cracked with some areas of lacquer missing. Each measures 48" H (w/out base), 69" H ( w/ base). 21" D x 9.5" W .
